II. POSITION SCOPE
The Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing operations and maintenance functions for assigned renewable energy projects based on project requirements, employee capacity, and project proximity where applicable. The role provides managerial and technical oversight over plant performance, equipment reliability, contractor execution, preventive and corrective maintenance, and operational readiness to ensure reliable, efficient, and well-coordinated plant operations.
As a project/site manager, the role coordinates closely with project management, engineering teams, contractors, service providers, regulatory agencies, and Head Office to support operational excellence, technical reliability, timely reporting, and continuous improvement across assigned facilities. Internal transfer or reassignment may be implemented later as business and project needs require.
III. JOB DESCRIPTION
Operations, Maintenance, and Plant Performance Management:
- Lead day-to-day O&M activities for assigned renewable energy projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of solar power plants and associated electrical systems.
- Provide technical oversight in monitoring solar panels, inverters, transformers, substations, protection systems, and other critical plant components using SCADA, FusionSolar, and related monitoring platforms.
- Plan, supervise, and validate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, replacement works, and post-maintenance performance checks.
- Analyze plant performance, energy yield, availability, equipment trends, and recurring issues, and recommend technical improvements to optimize long-term asset performance.
- Lead incident response for system faults, outages, equipment failures, and operational abnormalities, including root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and escalation to management where required.
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation of maintenance activities, plant performance data, incident reports, technical findings, and corrective actions for audit and management review.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare, review, and submit operational, maintenance, plant performance, and compliance-related reports to Head Office, NGCP, LGUs, and other relevant stakeholders or regulatory agencies.
- Ensure timely submission and proper tracking of required reports, permits, certifications, inspections, renewals, and regulatory commitments applicable to assigned projects.
- Lead preparation for audits, inspections, regulatory visits, lender or investor reviews, and internal checks related to operations, maintenance, and plant performance.
- Maintain a compliance tracker and ensure that findings, observations, and corrective action plans are closed within agreed timelines.
Coordination and Communication
- Act as the coordination point for assigned projects, working closely with Project Management, Engineering, Asset Management, contractors, service providers, and Head Office.
- Oversee contractor and service provider performance, ensuring that works are completed on schedule, within scope, and in accordance with approved technical standards.
- Communicate plant performance, operational risks, technical issues, and required management decisions in a clear, timely, and action-oriented manner.
- Lead planning and coordination of outages, maintenance schedules, spare parts requirements, manpower deployment, and site access arrangements.
Systems and Technical Support
- Utilize monitoring, reporting, and data systems to conduct performance analysis, identify operational risks, and support management decision-making.
- Develop and maintain technical dashboards, logs, trackers, and reports for plant availability, energy generation, downtime, maintenance compliance, incident trends, and corrective action status.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including digital monitoring, data-driven maintenance planning, document control, and technical process standardization across assigned projects.
- Knowledge of project management principles, SQL programming, server administration, and digital reporting tools is an advantage.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by management, consistent with the role’s technical expertise, employee capacity, and operational requirements of assigned projects.
IV. POSITION HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; licensed Electrical Engineer is preferred.
- At least six (6) years of relevant experience in operations and maintenance of solar PV plants, power plants, transmission or distribution utilities, substations, or industrial facilities.
- Proven experience leading site operations, contractor coordination, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and technical reporting in a power or renewable energy environment.
- Strong knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, electrical systems, substations, protection systems, inverters, transformers, and related plant equipment.
- Proficiency in SCADA systems and other plant monitoring, reporting, and data acquisition tools.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently as the site manager.
- Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and management reporting skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, AutoCAD, technical reporting tools, and digital maintenance or monitoring platforms.
- Willing and able to be assigned to project sites as required, with consideration of employee capacity, assigned project coverage, and nearby project locations where applicable.
- Willing to work on-site from Monday to Saturday and adapt to operational requirements as needed.
- Demonstrates flexibility in supporting project deadlines and business-critical activities, including extended work schedules when necessary.
