🌱 Growing Together for a Greener Future: Tree Planting in Bataan

On September 30, 2025, CN Green Roof Philippines, in collaboration with the DENR-CENRO, successfully led a tree planting activity in Barangay Alangan, Limay, Bataan. This meaningful initiative was made possible through the support of Climate Fund Managers (CFM), Norwegian Investment Fund (Norfund), and Solana Solar Beta Incorporated (SSBI) - the company developing the 22.79MWp Hermosa Solar Plant Project in Barangay Balsik, Hermosa, Bataan.

From 6:30AM to 9:00 AM, more than 90 participants came together as partners in sustainability and community development. The activity gathered multi-stakeholder groups who have been closely working with SSBI in the solar plant project and its community programs:

• Green Roof Philippines with 12 participants
• Barangay Balsik and Hermosa LGU officials and representatives, led by Barangay Captain Amado S. Roncal, with 16 participants
• Farmers Association partners, including Balsik Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries, Balsik Golden Rice and Corn Association, and Balsik Hermosa Farmers Rice and Corn Association), from the Solar Pump Irrigation System Community Development Program (SPIS CDP) with 24 participants
• Owners Engineer Artelia Philippines Inc and EPC Contractor Renesource Renewables, with subcontractors Rhino Construction and EBATECH Corporation with 30 participants
• DENR-CENRO with 10 participants

Together, the participants planted a total of 1,000 seedlings of narra and guyabano - native and fruit-bearing species that will enrich local biodiversity, improve soil health, and strengthen community-based forestry initiatives, while providing long-term ecological and livelihood benefits to the community.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to biodiversity conservation and environmental stewardship, highlighting how clean energy projects and community partnerships can go hand in hand in building a sustainable future. By greening the local landscape, stakeholders reinforce the idea that renewable energy development must be rooted in social responsibility and ecological care.

As the Hermosa Solar Plant Project progresses, activities like this ensure that development contributes positively to both the environment and the people it serves.
